IRRIGATION WATERING CREATES THE GREATEST DEMAND ON A LIMITED SUPPLY

MAXIMUM LIMIT
Daily water usage continues to trend high. Daily gallons used hit 6 million three times during the past seven days, which is above the official trigger of 5.7-million gallons to initiate Stage 3 water restrictions.
The City is watching this usage hourly. Currently, the storage tanks are at a safe level. However, each consecutive day the City pumps hit maximum limit, some of that storage buffer is lost.
NO WEEKEND WATERING
Preventing watering with irrigation systems on the weekend helps recover some of the storage buffer. That is why it’s important to please be sure to adhere to the NO WEEKEND WATERING policy.
Please know the City is doing everything possible to avoid going to Stage 3, but needs every citizen to help by conserving water and following the Stage 2 irrigation schedule.
NO ADDITIONAL WATER TO PURCHASE
As it has been communicated previously, the City’s daily allotment from the City of Rockwall is 6 million. There is no additional water to purchase. Despite numerous requests to obtain additional water, our water supplier does not have any additional water to provide.
This is a limit in the supplier’s ability to produce additional water; not a limit in the City’s ability to purchase or pump the water. Heath’s pumping capacity is nearly twice the amount we are allotted.
FUTURE SOLUTIONS
A firm has been retained to assist in a water study to help identify additional water sources as well as infrastructure needed to expand storage and delivery capacities. But this is a longer-term solution.
Please be a good neighbor today!
