The Heath Economic Development Corp./Municipal Benefits Corp. honored outgoing President David Lane and Past President Tom Johnson for their service to the organization and City of Heath at its July 26 meeting.

David has served on the board since 2014 and reached the eight-year term limit this month. Tom Johnson served on the Board from 2009 to 2017 before terming out. He returned in 2019 to serve an additional three years.

David and Tom have been instrumental in guiding the HEDC/HMBC, which has the primary goal of expanding the sales tax base to offset the burden on property taxes and improve quality of life.  Since 2010, sales tax collections by the City of Heath have grown from $379,788 in 2010 in to $2.4 million in 2021.

The City Council will honor both Tom and David at the August 23 City Council meeting in appreciation of their work that has involved sacrificing significant time away from their own businesses and families through the many years.
