TxDOT Construction Updates – December 2017
FM-550 and FM-549 Shoulder and Overlay Project
TxDOT is scheduled to begin their FM-549 and FM-550 shoulder addition and overlay project on January 2, 2018. A new signal at Country Club Drive and FM-3097 (Horizon Road) is also included in the project. The FM-549 improvements go from the FM-549/FM-550/FM-740 intersection to SH-205 and the FM-550 project goes from the FM-549/FM-550/FM-740 intersection to SH-205. The shoulder work and overlay will be installed in mile sections to minimize impact to the traveling public.
The work will begin with improvements to the FM-549/FM-3097 (Horizon Road) intersection. The estimated completion date for both roads and the Country Club Drive signal is February 2020. The signal will be installed in the early part of the project.
A similar project on FM-1140 (Smirl), from the FM-1140/Hubbard/FM-740 intersection to FM-740 near the CVS, is scheduled to begin the summer of 2018.

FM-740 Widening Project
The TxDOT contractor planned to switch the traffic to all four lanes by the end of December, but on December 21 notified the City that the rain has delayed the switch. It is now scheduled for January 4. The work to perform the switch will occur AFTER students have arrived in the morning and are in class at Amy Parks Elementary and Rockwall-Heath High School. This schedule is also weather dependent.
