UPDATES

INSTALLATION

The repaired and refurbished 300-HP pump and electrical motor was installed in the pump station on the morning of Friday, July 14. However, during the startup of the repaired pump, another issue was discovered: components of the electrical supply and control for the repaired pump were not operating properly.

PARTS SOURCED

Technicians diagnosed a failed variable frequency drive (VFD) which is a critical component of the motor control center for the pump. City staff is in discussions with the manufacturer of the VFD unit on repair options and parts delivery timelines. At present it appears the soonest repair parts would be available is mid-August. Staff members are working with the manufacturer to possibly compress these timelines.

STAGE 2 WATER RESTRICTIONS REMAIN

The City will remain in Stage 2 Water Restrictions, which were accelerated by the equipment failure on June 23. Factors affecting a change in restriction statusinclude the pump station is being restored to full operational capacity and the dry, hot weather conditions impacting supply and demand. Thank you for your continued conservation efforts, including watering with an irrigation only on your assigned day.
