NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING – Amending Ordinances for Agricultural District and Tree Preservation

Notice of Public Hearing before the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council of the City of Heath, Texas:  Notice is hereby given that the Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing starting at 6:30 PM, Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at Heath City Hall, 200 Laurence Drive. Further notice is given that the City Council will hold a second public hearing starting at 6:30 PM, Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at Heath City Hall.

The Commission and City Council will conduct public hearings to consider the following code amendments:

Case ZTA-2020-01: Conduct a Public Hearing and act on an Ordinance to amend Chapter 159.20, “(A) Agricultural District,” of the City of Heath Code of Ordinances pertaining to revised dimensional and area requirements for accessory buildings and accessory dwelling units; and

Case ZTA-2020-02: Conduct a Public Hearing and act on an Ordinance to amend Chapter 158, Sections 35 through 43, “Tree Preservation,” of the City of Heath Code of Ordinances.

Citizens are invited to attend and participate in these public hearings, and the Commission and City Council may continue a public hearing from one meeting to another. Information regarding these hearings may be obtained by calling 972-961-3066 or email to klasher@heathtx.com.

It is noted that in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, by avoiding meetings that bring people together in a group setting, and in accordance with the Texas Governor’s Declaration of Disaster enacted March 13, 2020 (as amended), and the Mayor’s amended Proclamation of March 24, 2020, members of the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council may be participating in these hearings remotely in compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, as temporarily modified by the Texas Governor. Therefore, these hearings may be broadcasted utilizing interactive video web conferencing and telephone, and there may be no public access to the location specified above. Less than a quorum of council members may be physically present at the location; however, a quorum will participate in the videoconference meeting.

The public is invited to view, listen and participate in these public hearings by utilizing the Zoom Meeting information provided on the Planning and Zoning Commission’s agenda for the regularly called meeting of July 7, 2020, and for the City Council’s agenda for the regularly called meeting scheduled for July 28, 2020. These agendas will be posted three (3) days prior to each meeting on the city’s internet web site at https://www.heathtx.com/government/other-committee-and-board-agendas/ and at https://www.heathtx.com/government/city-council-agendas-and-minutes/. The meeting ID and telephone numbers used to join the meeting will be listed on these agendas.
