For a patriotic hometown American experience, join the festivities at the City of Heath’s Annual Independence Day Parade.

The City of Heath will celebrate freedom on July 4 with its annual parade and an opening ceremony honoring our veterans and active military.

The ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. in front of City Hall and feature a live barbershop quartet. Complimentary popsicles and cold drinks will be served. The parade will being immediately after the ceremony; aproximately 9:10 a.m.

All Heath Veterans and active military are invited to be recognized during the short ceremony and then ride or walk with the Veterans’ Float in the parade immediately afterwards. Please encourage the veterans and military members in your life to come be honored during this patriotic tradition.

There is no entrance fee for the parade, but registration is required.

– PARADE REGISTRATION –

Parade entry is free, but registering by June 27 is required.
To ensure the parade announcer can give you a shout out,
place your name/organization name on your entry.

SCHEDULE

8 a.m. Staging at Amy Parks-Heath Elementary School, 330 Laurence Drive
8:15 a.m. Judging Begins
9 a.m. Opening Ceremony in front of City Hall/Fire Bay.
9:10 a.m. Parade Begins.
Popsicles and Water Served in Front of City Hall while Supplies Last.

TRAFFIC DELAYS

The intersection of Laurence Drive and FM 740/FM 1140 will be closed during the parade on July 4 from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. To avoid inconvenience or delays, please plan an alternate route or time frame for driving through the area.

WEATHER CONTINGENCY

Weather updates for City events will be posted regularly on our social media channels. Please check these channels in the event of inclement weather. Because many students and children participate in this event, the City will follow the Rockwall ISD’s delay protocol for lightening strikes and severe weather. The parade may be delayed up to 10 a.m. only, due to traffic concerns.

Veterans Float

The City of Heath invites veterans and active members of the U.S. Military to ride in the parade on the Veterans Float.

The float will be parked in the fire bay at City Hall, 200 Laurence. Please arrive by 8:15 a.m. and enjoy coffee, donuts and camaraderie with fellow veterans. The City thanks John Holmsley and Bob Quimby for providing the trailer for the Veterans Float year after year. We also thank the National Charity League mother/daughter teams for decorating the float so beautifully.

Parade Participation Rules

One branded/wrapped vehicle per business, civic, charitable or other non-profit entry is permitted and must be decorated patriotically. Preferably such entries tow a themed float.
