The City of Heath once again received a clean audit report from independent auditors.

The City’s financial statements for the 2015-2016 fiscal year received an unmodified opinion, which is the best of the four types of opinions that the City could have received.

Brooks Cardiel & Company, PLLC conducted the audit and praised the City of Heath for its best practices in consistently maintaining conservative fiscal management, policies and procedures that have resulted in a balanced budget and healthy reserve fund balance.

“Heath is one of the best managed cities that I have seen,” said Louis Breedlove, audit manager, Brooks Cardiel & Company, PLLC during his presentation of the firm’s audit results during the March 28 City Council meeting.

The City was also recently awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada (GFOA) for the seventh consecutive year.

Additionally, the City received the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the sixth time.

“We are very pleased to once again receive the highest rating possible as a result of the City’s astute and proactive financial management,” said Heath Mayor Brian Berry. “I want to thank not only my colleagues on the City Council, but City Manager Ed Thatcher, Finance Director Laurie Mays and their staff members for their expertise and hard work to exceed best practices for municipal government financial management and planning.”
