THE CITY’S DAILY SUPPLY REMAINS LIMITED TO 6 MILLION GALLONS
Usage prior to Stage 2 restrictions being initiated June 23 was close to exceeding this limit. If consumer behavior spikes beyond the daily use trigger, Stage 2 restrictions will be re-instated to avoid a water crisis such as a boil notice.
The Stage 2 trigger occurs when City water usage exceeds 90% of the daily water supply limit for two days in a seven-day period – 5.4M gallons.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued conservation of this limited and precious resource.
Additional Stage 1 Details
- No watering/irrigating landscapes and lawns with sprinklers or irrigations systems may occur any day between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.
- Foundations, trees and other plantings (not lawns) may be watered at any time with handheld hoses.
- Stage 1 restrictions are mandatory and fines (up to $2,000 fine per day) and other enforcement actions up to and including termination of water service will be applied to those who fail to comply with the restrictions.
- Irrigation restrictions do not apply to locations using irrigation water from private wells, or water pumped from Lake Ray Hubbard in compliance with active permits issued by the City of Dallas.
- The City will also increase enforcement efforts for wasteful water use such as leaking plumbing or irrigation systems overspray onto paved surfaces, etc.
