CITY COUNCIL MEETING RECAP – 02/25/25

Interim City Manager Aaron Adele

Interim City Manager Aaron Adel is under the weather today and unable to bring you her video recap of last night’s City Council meeting.

Here are the key actions:

The City Council received a presentation and request for a Resolution of Support for a Housing Tax Credit Program application in association with the Texas Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) for a proposed affordable rental housing development located at 217 Laurence Drive. The Resolution of Support was unanimously denied.

Council approved a Resolution authorizing a real estate sales contract for the acquisition of just over 21 acres of land located within the heart of our community at 305 Laurence. This project is supported and funded by the Heath Economic Development and Municipal Benefits Corporation as a part of its strategy to preserve open space within the heart of our community and to protect the property from undesirable development. Being able to preserve this special landmark in Heath’s Towne Center Overlay District is very exciting, and the HEDC/HMBC team looks forward to exploring its highest and best uses. The Council unanimously approved a contract for upgrades to the Southside Lift Station. This project was included in the 2020 Water Impact Fee study and includes two new 74 horsepower pumps. The cost of $283,775 is cover by sewer impact fees.

Thank you for taking time today to keep up with your hometown!
