CITY RECOGNIZES CONSTITUTION WEEK 2023

Mayor Kelson Elam proclaimed the week of September 17-23 as Constitution Week 2023.

He reminded citizens of the importance of protecting the ideals the Framers of the Constitution had in 1787 by vigilantly protecting the freedoms guaranteed through this guardian of liberties. Accepting the proclamation was Heath resident and member of the Rock Wall Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Becky Burkett.

The commemoration of Constitution Week runs annually. Constitution Day was officially enacted on August 2, 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower from a congressional resolution petitioned by the Daughters of the American Revolution.
